One example are "magic" camps with Phantasm Warriors etc. It's still quite a mystery, the auto-battle sometimes wins fights without casualties where i probably lose units myself. Trying to actively "save-scum" the auto-battles seems futile though, AFAIK their result is saved into memory and will always be identical until you either change the army setup or do another battle first. Quicksave and if the AI also loses units i retry myself. I actually started using auto-battles more frequently when i'm not comfortable with my army setup, which is usually when i start a new game and all units are completely random. When facing walls always outnumber the enemy. Spending the first five points into health increase the heroes auto resolve survivality significantly. See melee infantry as tanks(aka the people who are taking the beating)Īrmy buff are great when you command but the ai tents to rush heroes into melee.Įxtra health increase there survivabilty.Īrmor decrease there pshyical damage and resistance there magic damage. Use alot of range units.(Range units will hurt enemies before they get into range.)

Once you learnt the ai mindset slaughtering them is easy and very boring.Ī few tricks to turn auto combat into your favor: Keep in mind the ai isnt very smart(compaire to a human) it wont put units in gaurdmode and wait a turn if it can hit an enemy this turn for example.Īnd it got no consept of unit maintenance.

After auto battle is over watch replay(a buttion on the victory screen) and see how the ai move your units.
